Pioneering AI Optical Fiber for a New Era in Healthcare

Jean Yang, Founder and CEO of Huijia Health, personally led a guided tour of the globally exclusive AI Optical Fiber Innovation Medical Device Research Center, where she introduced Huijia Health’s groundbreaking technology—nFOPT® (Non-invasive Fiber Optic Physiological Monitoring Technology). This technology enables continuous and contactless monitoring of physiological activities such as respiration, heart rate, sleep, coughing, and epilepsy. It is widely applied in smart pads (used in clothing, pillows, beds, cushions), assistive devices, smart driving monitoring, pet health, and AI caregiving systems. It can also contribute in the Industry 4.0 solutions for energy efficiency and carbon reduction.

Building on 15 years of accumulated health data, Huijia Health integrates AI and edge computing to offer innovations such as telemedicine, intelligent consultations, and smart shift handovers. Unlike conventional passive systems that rely on voice input, Huijia Health’s solutions use dynamic, real-time health data to provide proactive alerts, enabling early disease detection, reducing medical waste, and alleviating labor shortages in caregiving. To date, Huijia’s technologies have been adopted by over 500 institutions, including obstetrics and gynecology clinics, postpartum care centers, infant care facilities, psychiatric departments, nursing homes, dementia centers, and hospitals, benefiting over 100,000 individuals. The Taipei Medical University Healthcare System also partners with Huijia Health in areas such as sleep medicine and psychiatry, and both are actively involved in the Healthy Taiwan Sprout Project.

Dual Exchange of Technology and Culture

In addition to professional site visits, the event also featured a vibrant “Hsinchu Hakka Cultural Experience”. Participants engaged in hands-on activities such as making Lei Cha (ground tea), Hakka mochi, and crafting bamboo fans and bamboo cicadas. These hands-on experiences allowed students to immerse themselves in Taiwan’s rich and diverse culture while also engaging with its advances smart healthcare innovations-strengthening cross-cultural understanding and establishing a solid foundation for lasting international collaboration.
