電子病歷（Electronic Health Records, EHR）除了記錄疾病、診療與用藥資訊之外，還能告訴我們什麼？
當我們以民族誌的視角閱讀電子病歷，這些看似客觀的醫療紀錄，可能成為理解病人家庭關係、社會處境、日常生活與照護需求的重要材料。2026年11月3日（星期二）下午3時至5時，臺北醫學大學醫學人文研究所邀請 Dr. Janelle Taylor 蒞臨演講，分享她如何以人類學的好奇心與民族誌方法，重新思考電子病歷所能揭示的社會世界。
本次演講 “An Ethnographic Perspective on Electronic Health Records” 將介紹 Taylor 博士針對高齡者與失智症所進行的研究。她從一項長期追蹤失智症發生情形的研究資料出發，閱讀高齡參與者的臨床病歷紀錄，探究其中所呈現的家庭與社會關係；另一項研究則分析失智症高齡者透過醫療系統所傳送的安全訊息，從文字之中理解他們的生活需求、處境與所面對的困難。
這些研究也引出一個值得醫療人文與醫療人類學進一步思考的問題：如果把電子病歷視為一種「田野」（fieldsite），我們究竟能從其中看見什麼？又會面臨哪些方法論與倫理上的挑戰？
透過 Taylor 博士的研究與反思，本場演講將帶領我們重新思考電子病歷與民族誌之間的可能連結，也探索醫療資料如何成為理解健康、照護、家庭與社會生活的另一種入口。

What insights can electronic health records yield, when approached with an ethnographic curiosity about social life? This talk will share findings from and reflections on research that I have carried out examining data from the electronic health records of older adult participants in a longitudinal study of incident dementia. One project primarily involved reading clinical chart notes for what they could reveal about family and social relations. The other project involved reading secure messages sent to the healthcare delivery system by older adults with dementia, for what they could tell us about their needs, circumstances, and struggles. The talk will address some of the challenges as well as the potential, of approaching electronic health records as a kind of “fieldsite.”
